This will be appealed to the circuit court but the right is crowing at this as a win.

This leaves many in states using exchanges fully responsible for payments for their health insurance despite the obvious need for subsidies.

The D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals said the Affordable Care Act does not permit the IRS to distribute premium subsidies in the federal ObamaCare exchange, meaning those consumers must bear the full cost of their insurance.
The 2-1 decision by the three-judge panel in Halbig v. Burwell sets up a major legal showdown that conservatives believe could deal a fatal blow to President Obama’s healthcare law.
The government is expected to appeal the ruling to the full D.C. Circuit, but even if the administration triumphs there, the case appears destined for the Supreme Court.

Was your weekend ambient noise including what sounded like a puddle jumper wound up for take off and a bulldozer with squeaky treads were in battle with Godzilla?

Friday evening the road adjacent to the GM Renaissance center was repaved. Godzilla is the asphalt stripping apparatus.

But the biggest and most annoying noise sounded like a plane a full throttle.

In their fervor to ensure that the least amongst their citizens keep getting kicked in the teeth, the Republicans of Virginia have stooped to breaking and entering an executive office in order to block Medicaid expansion.

There is a time limit between delivery of documents and the Governor's need to authorize them. So the Republican House Speaker William J. Howell authorized security to illegally enter the Governor's office during a holiday break to ensure the clock started ticking before the Governor even knew the bill was delivered.

Is there anything the Republicans won't do to harm the 47%?

A study performed by the University of California at Davis has found a correlation between exposure to pesticides and autism.

The author of the report suggests that families near agricultural fields being sprayed get their children out of town. The study also found that pregnant women after the first trimester had an increased risk of their infant becoming autistic with the exposure closer to the due date being the most harmful to the fetus.

Organophosphates were the culprit identified. Developed by the Nazis in the 1940's these pesticides have a host of deadly and debilitating consequences when humans(and other critters) are exposed.

Organophosphates kill because they interfere with the nervous system of both insects and humans. They inhibit an enzyme called acetylcholinesterase. Under normal conditions, acetylcholinesterase sends chemical signals to halt nerve impulses at appropriate times. When the acetylcholinesterase enzyme is disturbed, neurological overstimulation occurs, leading to nervous system dysfunction, causing seizures and death.
Acute exposure can be observed through symptoms of nausea, twitching, headaches and trembling. Most people die because of an inability to breathe. The diaphragm goes into paralysis, convulsions overtake and death ensues.

Long term exposure to these insecticides produces developmental effects including behavioral problems and receding cognitive function, most notably attention deficit.

Not only do organophosphates disrupt the neurons in the body, but they also wreak havoc on the endocrine system. In time, exposure to these chemicals reduces testosterone levels, eliciting femininity in males. Male fertility may be destroyed altogether.

The article itself is fairly bare bones but full of basic information.

I liked that they did point out what is rude to ask.

Katie Couric was called out in January after she pressed model Carmen Carrera for details about her gender transition and "private parts." Such questions are considered rude and intrusive. As Washington Post etiquette columnist Steven Petrow has noted, "It wouldn't be appropriate to ask a non-transgender person about the appearance or status of their genitalia, so it isn't appropriate to ask a transgender person that question either." Asking transgender people what their names were before they transitioned is similarly considered ill-mannered, as is failing to make an effort to use the pronouns they prefer.

Lexington County is one of South Carolina's most populated counties boardering Richland County and containing surburbs of the Capital Columbia. Lexington County has an agreement to "house" suspected illegal immigrants from the surrounding area.

Metts’ job as sheriff gives him control of the Lexington County jail, and he has an agreement with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency to house illegal immigrants. Anyone arrested in the Midlands for being in the country illegally is taken to the the county jail.

Everyone has biases.

The very condition of being biased is programmed into our genome as a means of protecting the tribe.

That does not make it right. We aren't battling for dominance over the water hole again, yet. But we live in a society that uses this internal programming in order to make more purchase that which has been deemed a part of the given culture.

We also see biases pop up in sociological settings where it is advantageous to have your clan identity be perceived as superior in order to curb moral leanings towards those seen as the enemy or other. These perspectives are generally limited to military and church settings but with the rise of the religious right we are seeing an entirely new form of acceptable biases in our media. This amount of bias has left us with an ignorant electorate. And even worse than ignorant misinformed.

Civilizations implode when the media becomes so biased. As we watch from our computer screens we can see daily where media bias is some form of stochastic terrorism. Perhaps only mild, forcing millions stuck on transit or in line to listen to the parroting of right wing talking points. To the extreme of hordes pointing weapons at federal officials just trying to do their job.

So it is not only important to share the news from one's community but to do so in a manner that communicates to everyone.

As an Oregonian I occasionally view the campaign ads from Republican Senate candidate Monica Wehby. She's challenging Senator Jeff Merkley, Democrat yet I cannot understand who Monica Wehby actually is as a person nor can I find any specifics about her platform.

Monica Wehby, brain surgeon, white female Republican is in my opinion the perfect example of the spoiled, privileged narcissist who believes Oregonians should simply accept her at her "word". Why, because she's a rich white, cute American and that is all we need to know.

The ads she's running are dripping with contempt, where you can see her disdain for working Oregonians with her body language and lack of specific policy proposals.
