Good morning! Today is the eleventh Monday that Donald Trump has been a convicted felon.
And why not start the countdown to his sentencing date, too, while we’re at it? That’s currently scheduled for September 18. Including today, it’s 37 days until his sentencing date. It’ll be my pleasure to count down toward that!
I’m looking forward to Greg Dworkin taking my mind off the end of the Olympics. I’m always sad to see the games close! But I think the Olympics provided an interesting parallel to our own situation here at home. Leading up to the games, all the stories were about the Parisians and the French in general dreading them, and begging foreign visitors to stay home, instead.
But by the end, it seemed the story had changed, and everyone had gotten caught up in the excitement after all! And in just about the same space of time, Americans were re-energized by an election that suddenly looked different, exciting, and even promising!
Not liking the Olympics is weird! Harrumphing at the Olympics is weird! And Donald Trump and JD Vantz have a history of that! They’re weird!
We definitely can’t have them in charge when Los Angeles 2028 rolls around! What a disaster that would be!
France beat back the damper that LePen would have put on the Olympics. We can do, and must, do it, too. So, Happy Monday!
