Where do they come up with this stuff? I mean the notion of "reforming" the 14th amendment is so absurd, how has it entered the domain of rational discourse? Especially as a lawyer, I am appalled at the notion of re-opening the 14th amendment and tinkering with it in any manner. The 14th Amendment, after all, was enacted after the civil war and in essence extended the protections of the Bill of Rights and other basic constitutional rights to all, regardless how the states wanted to screw with you, like for example, making you a slave. Anyway, the right has now broached the idea of "reforming" this cornerstone of our liberty, and the message is being considered seriously. It's brilliant from their point of view, and the left (not really the left, just THE REST OF SANE AMERICA) is left slackjawed.
