Omens are for the other people. You know, people like - them.
But what if I told you that some of those people vote? I know, it’s hard to believe. But it’s true. And it isn’t all 100% CT either.
Maybe one person out of 10,000 might believe that Queen Elizabeth II is really a lizard from Arcturus. But those folks don’t vote. Or they write-in using magenta crayons to vote for people named Non-Arcturus Eddie.
No, the voting — or non-voting — is real.
That’s because the United States of America in 2016 has the real deal: a Presidential contest that matters! Now every four years, you hear that. But some elections matter more. To whom? That depends.
So far, it is a three-party contest: the unnamed presidential candidate of the Democratic Party, the unnamed presidential candidate of the Republican Party, and — drum roll — the Legacy of Barack H Obama (‘legacy of obama’ results on ‘Bing’ says it’s real: 15,600,000 results).
Legacy campaigns don’t get many votes. And the shadow of a legacy campaign doesn’t last forever. But when it is active, it can change an election. The shadow of the Legacy of Ronald Reagan (1,200,000 results on ‘Bing’) is dissipating. Is it gone? Well, the fire is more a bed of coals than a roar. But in its time, the campaign of the Legacy of Ronald Reagan turned its share of precincts.
2016: the year of the Arena?
The Legacy of Barack H Obama will be going to both arenas. At least on the respective last day of each. Because Vice Presidents may be popular this year.
So why the question mark and the arenas? Because there may be yet another campaign coming over the hill. Or the Hill.
But that is another story.
In the meantime, Quicken Loans Arena vs Wells Fargo Arena & the PA Convention Center would have kept Jon Stewart’s writers chortling and busy. But the replacements? Who knows the meanings of the omens for Comedy Central. But when the first ad at 11 PM (on a Wednesday in Feb) on Hulu is an ad from Hulu, well to quote Luke Skywalker, "I have a very bad feeling about this."
