It's 25F and cloudy in Minneapolis, but after seeing Barack Hussein Obama's inaugural speech and watching the Bushies slither away, I felt like dancing. I walked outside my parents' house, past the snow piled on the boulevard, through the dirty slush, and did a little dance in the middle of the street.
What's your Obama dance? I pumped my arms, stirred the cold air with number one's, did a Michael Jackson pivot and strutted around with my eyes closed. For the first time in eight long, spirit-sucking years...could things finally start getting better?
Maybe so. Maybe so. Keep telling yourself that, despite all the doubts. Digging out of the Bush Depression will take time, and part of that will involve convincing ourselves that our government finally is willing to try to help. It has been such a long time controlled by the worst of us. Maybe it can happen. Maybe so.
