With 560+ amendments to pass, the Senate Finance Committee ambles their way through them. Votes on a handful of amendments have been recorded, with votes going down party lines, except for Senator Snowe breaking ranks once with an amendment offered by Senator Hatch.

Happy Thursday everybody !! I'm pleased to be opening up the pool this morning and I appreciate Bill leaving me the keys to the Lexus. Bill and Michael are winging their way to Key West this morning and I'm sure that we all wish them a lovely vacation, except of course those of us that are too jealous to do so. The wonderful vicki , that fabulous purveyor of wine and spirits, has promised us a live-blog from the island which will no doubt provide us with many vicarious thrills and more opportunity for envy.
OK , I'm going to try this and see if it works .....

It has come to my attention that recent fund raising efforts to subsidize C & J have fallen short. This makes me sad and a little cranky.

My friends here at dkos know that I am a studio musician by trade, and we studio musicians operate under a certain credo, which is ... take all work.

While operating in this mode I occasionally find myself lending my piano-playing skills to artists who have a penchant for wingnuttery. I characterize the proceeds from these engagements as filthy lucre , and it burns.

That said, please follow me below the fold for a proposition.

We've heard about the McCain campaign using music at their rallies against the wishes of the songwriters. MsLibrarian wrote about the use of the song, " Barracuda", as a theme for Sarah Palin , and the subsequent angry reaction from the Wilson Sisters of the band Heart.

Nashville songwriter, Gretchen Peters , is unhappy about the use of her song , "Independence Day", as a rally play-on for Palin , and her reaction is below the fold:
