What an amazing 10 days we have been through! What a sobering reality we are confronted with.
The United States on the precipice of economic collapse, the United States at the mercy of foreign oil, the United States staggering under mountains of debt. We have whole towns washed away by storm surge, or buried under floods, and these stories cannot even break into the top 10 news items of the day.
In seven short years we have gone from a big swinging dick to a beggar at the poorhouse.
While there are those that still pound their chest about the "success" of the surge, it is high time to also start realizing that our military capability to settle international grievances is all but impotent too. Five years in Iraq, 6 in Afghanistan and the sad, simple, reality is this:
We are still there!
