Did anyone catch this this morning? The man has done some good work on Senate campaigns, but the fact that he got hired over and over again for presidential campaigns is indicative of the problem with our party. In addition to being over dependent on highly paid consultants with poor records, our consultants tend to believe in "cookie cutter" campaigns with no regard for local differences. For all the faults with Terry McCauliffe, he did try to clear the DNC of these folks.
I remember reading about the "Shrum Primary" as far back as 1992, and each time the writer of the article would talk about how whoever picked him up would be a sure loser. If this was out there in the media, why did people keep hiring him?
Then again, which decisions were made by Shrum, and which were made by Kerry? Or, was the decision to hire Shrum indicative of other problems within the campaign? Anyone check how many consultants-of-dubious-portfolio were hired by the campaign?
Maybe this is a good sign for 2008.
