Less than 24 hours after what’s probably the deadliest attack on Jews in the nation’s history, the incredibly odious Sen. John Cornyn, the number two Republican in the Senate, tweeted this:
Then he followed up with this: “Everyone across the political spectrum should choose their words more carefully. MSM seems to only hear and report it when done by those they oppose. That's bias.”
Those tweets are still up, and Cornyn has refused to answer for his blatant misappropriation and mischaracterization of her words. She said that in a discussion two weeks ago with economist and New York Times columnist Paul Krugman, and she was talking about the need for the nation’s leaders to immediately address global warming. Here are her words in full:
“We owe the American people to be there for them, for their financial security, respecting the dignity and worth of every person in our country, and if there is some collateral damage for some others who do not share our view, well, so be it, but it shouldn't be our original purpose.”

We have to put an end to Republican control of the Senate. Please give $1 today to each of these fantastic Democrats fighting to win it back!
Even the Free Beacon article Cornyn pulled that from has Pelosi’s full quote and the context in which she said it, that she’s talking about economics. Cornyn damned well knows that. He’s doing the dirty work for Trump and for the Republican party, trying to deflect the blame for the hate-fueled attacks that dominated the week—around the country with mail bombs sent to prominent liberals and to CNN, in Kentucky where two African Americans were assassinated because of the color of their skin, and in Pittsburgh just hours before he wrote that tweet.
Hatred and fear and racism and anti-Semitism is on the ballot this November. Republicans put it there and are keeping it there. It must be defeated.
