Ever feel like life is on fast-forward but you're moving in slow motion? I'm having one of those days today. Of course, I'm jazzed that
Democracy Fest is less than a week away, but on the other hand, oh crud, Democracy Fest is less than a week away!! How on earth are we going to accomplish everything that needs to be done before then? Then I had a crazy day at work, and had to stay an hour late just to get caught up. Normally, especially with something like the "Dean speaks for me"
petition going on, I would find some time to check the internet from my phone at some point during the day, but today was way too hectic for me to be able to do that. So, when I was finally able to leave for the day, I just
had to check and see what had been happening during the few hours I was out of the loop. I looked at Blog for America, and was amazed to find a
post from Howard Dean, saying that he had read
my post from last night. Yeeaarrrgh!
Of course, being Howard, in response to my
my "Thank you, Howard Dean" post, he responded "First of all, thank
you! Wow! What a boost at the end of a long day. I just had to share it with you all, because, of course, the "Thank you" from Howard is for all of us.
Isn't this amazing? The 2004 election was so disheartening, and yet we knew we had to keep on keeping on. Keep on fighting. No other choice, really, but dang, it's exhausting. I keep thinking of this "Bushism":
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/3541706.stm
"Our enemies are innovative and resourceful - and so are we," the US president told a high-level meeting of Pentagon officials.
"They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people - and neither do we.
He wasn't kidding, was he? Sure it was a slip of the tongue, but it was really downright Freudian. Bush and his cronies are unrelenting in thinking up new ways to harm our country and our people. They just keep going and going and going...
Sometimes I wonder how we can possibly keep up? What are we supposed to run on?
Today we got a shout out from Howard Dean. Bam--instant adrenaline!
Actually, truth be told, the adrenaline started flowing well before I read Howard's post. It has been building over the past week and a half.
Back when I first posted "Dems: Stop eating your own!" I wanted to send a bigger message, like a petition or something, but I just couldn't get my mind around what to write. But when I wrote my Howard Dean Speaks for Me diary, glynis stepped up to the plate and offered to write a petition and has been tirelessly updating petition diaries ever since then. Malacandra came up with a graphic link and html we could use on our web pages and blogs, and designated tomorrow, June 15, as Support Howard Dean Day. I don't want to leave anyone out, but I try to thank everyone who played an important part in this effort, I'll never get this diary finished and be able to start packing for DeanFest! So please, use the comments to thank anyone and everyone who has had a hand in making this happen. We all pitched in and made stone soup, people. We can feel really really good about this. But let's finish this up with a bang. Let's make Support Howard Dean Day something the media and the country can't help but notice!
