Apologize if this was diaried or front paged, I didnt see and willd elete. Gov. Jim Doyle is one of our vulnerable incumbent state executives for next year. A
poll, however, shows him with early on two opponents, Scott Walker and Rep. Mark Green.
Jim Doyle(D): 50
Scott Walker(R): 31
Doyle:46
Mark Green(R): 33
Now, the bad news for Doyle. Most people dont who Walker or Green are, and only 40% of respondents said Wisconsin is headed on the right track. Doyle's approval rating is 46%, not awful, but nothing to cheer about either. That rating hasnt changed since his win 3 years ago.
Now for some good news on the national front:
-51% of Wisconsites rated Bush's performance as "unfavorable", the first time a majority have ever felt that way(in this poll). Just 43% approve of his job as president.
So, it will still be a close race come next year, when the name id of the GOP candidaes goes up. I dont think it hurts Doyle that Senator Herb Kohl will be on the ballot, and probably cruise to another term. Also, there are a few House race that look to be competitive, and that should help drive out the votes, especially if the anti-GOP mood continues.
Update: Here are some of the important House races, with some links:
District 5: Bryan Kennedy is running against James "I'll turn off your mic if I want" Sensennbrenner.
District 8: Mark Green's district, so this an open seat. Four Democrats are running. Jamie Wall, Nancy Nusbaum, Rich Langan, and Steve Kagen. Havent heard much about Langan or Kagen, but I've heard only good things about Wall and Nusbaum.
