Recently, Holy Joe went on another sociopathic rampage, this time asserting "partisan gridlock" (defined by Holy Joe as Democrats not doing what Holy Joe + Republicans want done) because Democrats in Congress asserted their proper authorities to demand that the White House turn over documents related to illegal domestic spying. http://thinkprogress.org/...
Holy Joe, the shameless partisan opportunist, saw fit, against all that our values as Americans and our freedoms as defined by our Constitution stand for, to use the recent car bombing attack in London to advocate for illegal domestic spying and electronic surveillance against Americans even though law enforcement in England foiled the true plans of the terrorists without resorting to electronic surveillance.
So I've written a snarky little "law" that perhaps Joe Lieberman would "enjoy."
THE JOE LIEBERMAN ELECTRONIC SURVEILLANCE ACT OF 2007
- WHEREAS, Joe Lieberman, whenever mentioned in this Act, shall refer to the current Senator from Connecticut as of July, 2007.
- WHEREAS, the phrase immediate family, shall refer to a spouse, a parent, a sibling, a child, or a grandchild.
- WHEREAS, the phrase electronic surveillance, shall be interpreted in its broadest form and may include wiretaps, bugs, cameras, tape recorders, or any type of surveillance that can view or record the actions of a person.
- WHEREAS, the phrase "subjectively believes" shall be interpreted to mean the belief of such person. It shall be deemed irrelevant whether such belief is reasonable, grounded in facts, or the logic behind such belief is quite flawed or vacuous.
- WHEREAS, it shall be the right of any American citizen, whether a private citizen or a government employee, without a court order and without government approval, to use any form of electronic surveillance against Joe Lieberman or any member of Joe Lieberman's immediate family so long as such citizen subjectively believes that Joe Lieberman or any member of Joe Lieberman's immediate family is an enemy to America, America's values, or America's constitution.
- WHEREAS, if an American citizen has subjectively concluded as such consistent with the language in paragraph 5, such surveillance could include, but is not necessarily limited to, installing electronic surveillance in every room of Joe Lieberman's house, listening in on all his phone conversations, reading all of Joe Lieberman's emails, opening up all of Joe Lieberman's mail prior to Joe Lieberman reading it, following Joe Lieberman around with surveillance 24 hours a day wherever he goes, etc... These recordings may be broadcast to the entire world and said citizen shall be given both complete criminal and civil immunity from any criminal or tort claim Joe Lieberman or an immediate member of Joe Lieberman's family might otherwise have asserted had this law not been in effect. These same provisions shall also be applicable to any member of Joe Lieberman's immediate family.
- WHEREAS, any supporter of Joe Lieberman can voluntarily agree to have this Act applied to him or her simply by sending written consent to their local member of Congress, the county clerk where they reside, or the Secretary of State where domiciled.
If Joe Lieberman believes that it is okay for the government to read other people's emails, listen to their phone conversations, go through their mail, follow them with cameras wherever they go, or wiretap their most intimate of conversations, then Joe Lieberman should be willing to apply these same rules to himself. Otherwise, he can just shut his sanctimonious, hypocritical, cowardly mouth up OR go take the first plane to Saudi Arabia and live in a country that advocates the totalitarian values that he advocates for others.
