I had to swap out a bunch of lightbulbs before I went to sleep last night. Both bathrooms had lost a couple and the tracklight in the kitchen required a specialty fix. I hate that, these things cost a bundle.
I keep spare bulbs, batteries, screwdrivers, fasteners, duct tape and what not in a special cabinet in the kitchen. And for the fourth time since March, I had a special swapout to do in the livingroom window.
Since March, anti-war liberals starting burning candles in their windows as a protest against the war and to help our troops light their way home. Some people use actual candles to do this. I have an electric candle that I usually put up at Christmastime. Last night, I changed the bulb for the fourth time since March. I've got spares.
Won't you join us? You don't have to belong to any church or movement, just be willing to commit some wattage to this protest. A number of my favorite websites have put up candles on their homepages to join the protest. I simply don't know how to do this, but if you want to see a virtual candle burning, visit Le Pretre Noir. As you might imagine, I live on-line, and click to this site when I need to stop and take a breath after all the bad news I've collected. It flickers like the real thing. The owner has a rather interesting citation at the top of the site and the graphics are quite tasty. Like all Salon blogs, it takes a minute to load. Be patient.
This was originally a MoveOn initiative but it has gotten even bigger, I see candles in the windows of a lot of the homes in my neighborhood.
Joel Sax can tell you more and help you add the graphic to your homepage, if you are so inclined.
