According to HuffPost, the House will not seat Mark Harris, who fraudulently won the 9th district House seat in North Carolina. After disbanding the election board with its non-handling of the election amid credible allegations that a large number of absentee ballots were not counted, incoming House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (D-Md.) stated,
“Given the now well-documented election fraud that took place in NC-09, Democrats would object to any attempt by [Mark] Harris to be seated on January 3...” incoming House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (D-Md.) said in a statement to The Washington Post. “In this instance, the integrity of our democratic process outweighs concerns about the seat being vacant at the start of the new Congress.”
After two years of no checks and balances, and the appearance that evil wins over good, I appreciate that we have some democratic processes that still work, now that the House will be run by more adults in the room than children. Here’s hoping that the electorate will come to its senses, and see that what we’re working toward is the good of the country, no matter what race, class, gender, ethnicity, religious orientation, or any other identifier one espouses.
