Hey everyone.
Welp, its been quite a year hasn’t it. Another year of watching Trump flounder and flail about, another year of the Resistance being awesome. We’ve had some rough patches to be sure, some losses, but I feel like the end is in sight. In a few week the new house of Reps will be up, and if you think Trump had problems before, WOAH BOY.
So lets get right to it wont we?
During an interview with Martha Raddatz on ABC’s “This Week,” retired Army Gen. Stanley McChrystal set the record straight when it comes to the Trump administration: he won't be part of it.
The former commander said that if he ever received an offer to work for Trump, he would reject it.
“It’s important for me to work for people who I think are basically honest, who tell the truth as best they know it,” McChrystal said.
Once again more indication that no one is in any hurry to get on the sinking ship that is the Trump administration. Also nice to see members of our armed forces, present and past, standing up to Trump and calling him out on his awfulness.
n an exit interview with the Los Angeles Times, Kelly admits that the White House is not quite the “well-oiled machine” that Trump loves to brag about. Two specific instances he cited as chaotic were the implementation of the travel ban and the “zero-tolerance” family separation policy at the Mexican border.
So Kelly confirming what we already knew; that the Trump Administration has been an utter shit show. And you know Donnie Kelly would not be airing this dirty laundry if you had actually treated him with a shred of respect at all. But then you are the crown king of pissbabies.
These burns and humiliations may seem minor, especially for a man with one of the most ostensibly demanding jobs in the world. But add to that equation Trump’s notoriously volatile temper, and you’ve got yourself a perfect storm.
Oh do we have to stop at 13 things? Can’t I have more? Can’t I be greedy like that? Also to that list I would add “The fact that Barack Obama continues to exist and is still more fondly remembered and more beloved than Trump ever will be.” Or hell, even simpler “The fact that non white people continue to exist and thrive despite his best efforts.”
If a forest is often missed for the trees, it may also be that sometimes you can’t see the ocean for the waves. To conclude that a blue wave has crashed on Congress overlooks the much more significant political development of 2018: This year was about a blue base being built across the nation, one that that will support a durable Democratic majority going forward.
That’s right. 2018 was just the start. If I were the GOP I’d be very nervous about 2020.
The Ruth Bader Ginsburg biopic On The Basis Of Sex wasn’t the only RBG-related release on Christmas Day.
CNN reports." data-reactid="23">“Justice Ginsburg was discharged from the hospital yesterday and is recuperating at home,” Supreme Court spokesperson Kathy Arberg wrote in an email to reporters Wednesday, CNN reports.
I am amazed none of my constituents covered this all week, since I was certain it would be welcomed as good news. I know when I heard Justice Ginsburg was in the hospital for Cancer Surgery, I was holding my breath, so the news she has a clean bill of health and is recuperating is good news indeed. Notoriou RBG is going to outlast Trump.
Anyways, that’s it for the last GNR of the year. Once again, if you are want for some music to listen to while reading the GNR, may I suggest the Good News Roundup official playlist, powered by Spotify. Rock out to music designed to help you resist Trump and his awfulness. Now featuring the Soundtrack of the hit Broadway Smash Hamilton!
That’s it from me, have a happy New Year everyone. May this be the last year we have to deal with Trump.
