This fact check is going to be really, really quick.
Josh Dawsey is a White House correspondent for The Washington Post, and he said … ah, fuck it, just check the tweet:
And here’s Trump on — checks calendar, makes sure it’s 2019 — Thursday in Texas wearing a stupid MAGA hat and saying even stupider things:
Now, Dawsey, as I noted, is a respected White House reporter, but so gobsmacked were other members of the press that they had to double-check his “work.”
Is Trump so starved for pity that he has to invent a bizarre story about being holed up in his house for two straight months? A story that’s so easily refuted even Mike Pence wouldn’t try to defend it? (I assume he wouldn’t, anyway. Who really knows these days?)
He does remember this trip, right? The border officials telling him about all the drugs they’ve seized at existing entry points and about the tunnels being dug under existing walls? Wolfman Jack’s parasitic twin Ted Cruz following him around like a puppy dog at press events?
At this point the lies and the crazy are inextricably commingled like Goober Grape. But there’s absolutely nothing whimsical or delicious about them.
*And here’s the tape, in case you doubt those two intrepid reporters. (He does acknowledge being in Iraq, but Texas? No.)
