At this point, one has to wonder if it's party over country for Moscow Mitch McConnell or McConnell over country. There doesn't seem to be an institution he's not willing to destroy, and that very much includes the Congress.
Here's what McConnell said about supporting Sen. Lindsey Graham's bullshit resolution attacking the House of Representatives. Teeing off a reporter's question about his willingness to defend Donald Trump for trying to extort a foreign leader into interfering in the 2020 election, McConnell said, "I'm willing to talk about the process in the House. […] I just did. I think it's grossly unfair and I think the president has a legitimate complaint about the process."
That process derives from the same article of the Constitution that governs the body McConnell is the current steward of. The House "shall have the sole Power of Impeachment," Article I, Section 2 says. That includes the sole power of determining how to proceed with the process. There is no legitimate complaint here, and this ridiculous resolution from Senate Republicans is substantively no different than the ridiculous Brooks Brothers 2.0 riot we saw from House Republicans this week—it just puts some lipstick on it. As ridiculous as it is, it's still dangerous. It's an attempt to delegitimize the constitutional process, and the House itself.
But let's back up a moment to the actual basis for the inquiry. Separate out the quid pro quo of what Trump was trying do and look at the action that did happen. Trump illegally withheld money appropriated and designated by the Congress to Ukraine. That happened. The other thing Article I gives Congress is the power of the purse. Trump wrested it away, and McConnell won't say a word in his institution's defense. That's not new for McConnell at all. Take Trump's emergency declaration that steals money appropriated by the Congress to defense and other projects for Trump's vanity project, the border wall. McConnell has refused to stand against Trump and for the Congress on that as well.
There's pretty much nothing that Moscow Mitch won't sell out, for no apparent purpose other than power and "winning." To get there, he'll smash everything.
He's as dangerous to the republic as Trump. Please give $1 to our nominee fund to help Democrats and end McConnell's career as majority leader.
