So Facebook has rightly taken heat for its policy allowing blatant falsehoods in political ads. Their dilemma is clear. They want money from the Trump campaign, and if Trump can’t lie in his ads, he can’t run ads.
It’s an appalling policy, though. An unending fusillade of Facebook bullshit helped get that cask of curdled liposuction fat elected in the first place, and it could conceivably happen again. Anyone considering a vote for Trump is congenitally gullible to begin with. It doesn’t help if the campaigns themselves are allowed to pack their ads with easily disproved nonsense.
So how to combat this? Fight fire with fire, I guess. Because Republicans understand nothing else.
And, hey, veteran actor and social media icon George Takei has a great idea for testing Facebook’s policy:
Touché, Mr. Takei.
Is Trump still chafing your arse-cheeks? Then Dear F*cking Lunatic: 101 Obscenely Rude Letters to Donald Trump and its breathlessly awaited sequel Dear F*cking Moron: 101 More Letters to Donald Trump by Aldous J. Pennyfarthing are the pick-me-up you need! Reviewers have called these books “hysterically funny,” “cathartic,” and “laugh-out-loud” comic relief. And they’re way, way cheaper than therapy.
