This is what happens when you spend your entire life inside a hermetically sealed couch cushion fort, and the only people allowed inside are Sean Hannity and Lou Dobbs. You act genuinely surprised when Donald Trump gets heckled and booed at a baseball game.
Yesterday, during Fox News’ The Five — which is apparently five times as meretricious and stupid as any other Fox show — the panel discussed the gruff reception Trump received at game 5 of the World Series Sunday night.
First came the obligatory appeal to civility — because the “office” of the president deserves respect, even if the person occupying that office shits on it every day like an industrial pressure-wash hose.
Newsweek:
Commentator Capri Cafaro criticized the fans that booed for failing to show respect for the president. "Everybody has their First Amendment right to express themselves however they want, but I would say this, regardless of whether or not you agree with President Trump or not he is the President of the United States and this is the World Series," she said. "I may not agree with pretty much anything President Trump does, but even if I felt that way, I would refrain from booing and just be silent and that's what you should do."
Uh, that’s not what you should do. If the criminal pr*sident wants to step out of his bubble, he should be prepared for this. If the DOJ weren’t protecting him he’d likely be locked up by now. The last thing he deserves is immunity from public shame.
The funniest, and most head-scratching, take was this one, though:
Co-host Dana Perino admitted that she never expected that Trump would get booed by the crowd. "I'm proved completely naive," she said. "I was the one who thought the president should go to the game. I never thought he would get booed. I thought Americans won't do that, Americans would cheer."
Ha ha ha ha ha! Americans are fed up with this 20-clown-car pileup, Dana. There are a lot of Americans who don’t get their news exclusively from Fox, and who would gouge their own eyes out with an ice-fishing auger before they’d ever attend a Trump rally.
Most Americans voted against the ocher abomination. And for the past two and a half years, most of us have disapproved of him — many of us strongly.
You expected cheers why? And in Washington, D.C., no less?
Yeah, you are naive. At least you got that part right.
