A new petition, for the UK to stop Brexit by revoking the Article 50 notification went on line last night. All today the deman to sign it (and verify by clicking a link in an email) was so great that the site has been regularly crashing all day. I started signing when the number was 950k, by the time I verified the number had topped a million, then the site crashed. As I write the number is 1,300,915, or at least it was until I tried to refresh the page and the site crashed.
Parliament's petitions committee tweeted that the rate of signatures was "the highest the site has ever had to deal with", after the website crashed.
….
Downing Street said the prime minister "has said many times she will not countenance revoking Article 50".

Revoke Article 50 has been trending on Twitter as people were urged to sign it. At one point, the petitions committee said there were nearly 2,000 signatures a minute.
The petition's heat map shows the constituencies with the highest number of signatories, including seats in Bristol, Edinburgh, Manchester, Oxford, London, Cambridge and Brighton.
This is the third largest petition ever, so far. Over 4 million demanded a “Peope’s Vote” secong referendum and over 1.8 million demanded that Donald Trump not be invited to make a State Visit.
UPDATE
The number of signatories at over 2 million (petition site now says 2,232,118) now exceeds the number of the petition to deny Trump a State Visit. Yes Brexit is less popular than Donald Trump.
