If you have not heard, special counsel Robert Mueller has handed in his report on the investigation into Donald Trump’s criminal campaign. Dozens of indictments, convictions, and a never-ending stream of clear chicanery has not stopped outlets like the New York Times from parroting the words of Trump’s handpicked Attorney General William Barr, as he asserts that there doesn’t seem to be anything untoward connected to Donald Trump in the Mueller report—you know, the report that none of us has seen. Forget the fact that Barr’s announcement displays a certain amount of disingenuous theatrics, having already known that there would be no bombshell indictments included in its filing.
Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters was on with Joy Reid Sunday morning to talk about Barr’s statements and the need to release the Mueller report. After explaining that she felt no compunction about subpoenaing the report if need be, the chair of the Financial Services Committee explained that paying attention to someone as pathological as Donald Trump is akin to letting yourself get brainwashed into a cult.
Rep. Waters: I want to tell you that this president has a way of trying to get into people's heads. He has been saying no collusion, no collusion, no collusion, over and over again for a long time. He's going try to conclude that this report has proven that there is no collusion and you have a lot of his sycophants who'll take the nod from him and they'll say the same thing. We cannot allow them to get away with this. He does this all the time. This is not the end of anything!
Take note, traditional media outlets: Try to remember that William Barr is the guy that technically replaced Jeff-I’m-too-Racist-to-become-a-judge-in-Alabama-Sessions. The guy between Barr and Sessions was a well-known scam artist. At this rate, Trump’s next attorney general might end up being some lipstick and a tuft of hair glued to his hand that he holds in front of a microphone.
