Today, Daily Kos announced key findings from a nationwide survey of Americans commissioned through Civiqs. The poll of 1584 registered voters was conducted online from April 6-9 and reveals that a whopping 70% of Americans believe Robert Mueller’s full report should be released to the public, while 53% think Trump’s Justice Department is trying to conceal information contained in that report. Other noteworthy findings from this month’s survey include:
- 84% of Americans support background checks for all gun purchases.
- 83% of Americans believe that the government should do more to regulate prescription drug prices.
Other issues surveyed include Trump’s handling of the aftermath of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico and Fox News viewership.
“The new Daily Kos/Civiqs poll provides hard data as an antidote to hot takes about current events,” said Carolyn Fiddler, communications director for Daily Kos. “April’s research not only reveals Americans’ strongly-held belief that the public deserves to see the full Mueller report, but it also reinforces the fact that frequent Fox News viewers have views far outside the mainstream when it comes to Trump-related issues and electoral fairness. While only 28% of all Americans erroneously believe that voter fraud is very common, 59% of faithful Fox viewers think it is. And while a breathtaking 70% of Americans support the release of the full Mueller report, just 38% of frequent Fox viewers want the public to have unfettered access to the special counsel’s findings.”
“Civiqs is pleased to partner with Daily Kos to conduct these monthly surveys,” said Civiqs director and chief scientist Drew Linzer. “These snapshots of public sentiment continue to provide valuable context to our ongoing tracking polls, which produce continuously updated data on how Americans feel about various issues and view key political leaders.”
