These are not trivial matters.
Charges like these should not be made lightly, nor in jest.
Somewhere there must be “a Red-Line” to which the Media responds: “No further ...”
This is one Trumpism, that is just a “bridge too far” — to just shrug off, and ignore. Per SOP.
The President of the United States has just ‘named Names’ …
Trump, not understanding treason, names people he thinks committed the capital crime
by Philip Bump, Washington Post — May 23, 2019

“Sir," NBC’s Peter Alexander said, "the Constitution says treason is punishable by death.”
Trump gave a slight nod of acknowledgment.
“You’ve accused your adversaries of treason,” Alexander continued. “Who specifically are you accusing of treason?”
[...]
Who specifically?
“If you look at [former FBI director James] Comey,” Trump said, “if you look at [former FBI deputy director Andrew] McCabe, if you look at people probably higher than that.”
Trump also named and Peter Strzok and Lisa Page [former FBI Agents], and their “insurance plan” against him, as also being guilty of Treason. A crime which he just acknowledged includes Death, as one of its penalties.
It would be easy to dismiss this as ‘more ramblings’ of the “extremely stable genius” if it were not for something else ‘Dear Leader’ did this week: he empowered his Loyal Lieutenant to actually go out and find (or fabricate) the evidence, which would back up his wild conspiracy claims.
President Trump has directed the intelligence community to "quickly and fully cooperate" with Attorney General Bill Barr's investigation into the origins of the Russia probe.
Why it matters: The president's desire to examine Obama-era investigators is now in full swing. Trump has also given Barr unilateral authority to declassify relevant documents as he sees fit.

"Today, at the request and recommendation of the Attorney General of the United States, President Donald J. Trump directed the intelligence community to quickly and fully cooperate with the Attorney General’s investigation into surveillance activities during the 2016 Presidential election. The Attorney General has also been delegated full and complete authority to declassify information pertaining to this investigation, in accordance with the long-established standards for handling classified information. Funny, as FBI director Comey routinely documented, if he would have only “pledged his Loyalty to Trump” he would probably not be on Trump’s Treason List now. A similar thing could be said for Andrew McCabe, another FBI deputy director who was fired for having the temerity of opening two Investigations into Trump, as the acting director, filling-in in Comey’s absence.
As far as Page and Strzok go, they too are ‘being charged’ by the “Stable Genius” of our ultimate National Crime, for having the temerity of joking in a email, about Trump’s dismal chances of winning the 2016 Election. (An endeavor that long-time Trump confident Howard Stern, has just said “started out as a publicity stunt”.)
If joking about Trump’s chances were indeed a crime — then I would expect that nearly half the nation is guilty of it, as well.
With the “I-Word” walls closing in on him, the current White House occupant, is not in a “joking mood” ...
Ummm, No. This was the Constitution in action; this was our Intelligence officials safe-guarding our National Security — but it definitely was not Treason.
Treason according to our founding document, requires helping our actual enemies — sovereign enemies at which we are in a state of war:
Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort. No person shall be convicted of treason unless on the testimony of two witnesses to the same overt act, or on confession in open court.
The Congress shall have power to declare the punishment of treason, but no attainder of treason shall work corruption of blood, or forfeiture except during the life of the person attainted.
Treason by definition, does not include those that the self-described “Extremely Stable Genius” perceives to be his “political enemies”. Nor those who have enough self-respect, and enough love of country — NOT to buckle to his constant demands for adoring loyalty.
That’s called Patriotism — another concept the authoritarian Trump no doubt, has no real world touchstone, to guide him along his accidental “publicity” journey.

Lest we forget the grand words of insight, the Celebrity Apprentice uttered, when confronted with his most serious challenge to date, since presuming the Office:
When Trump learns that Special Counsel Robert Mueller has been appointed, citing an eyewitness account, the report describes how “the President slumped back in his chair and said, ‘Oh my God. This is terrible. This is the end of my Presidency. I’m fucked.’”

True Americans should remember those ‘inspirational words’, as we stumble through the stormy days ahead. For in that moment of rare clarity, Donald Trump did show the world, he does grasp the terrible things he has done. And it worries him — immensely.
Thus the lashing back at his perceived enemies now, with all the power of the Office, that he continues to abuse.

Be wary. Be strong. Be vigilant.
Be Resistant. For this too shall pass … but probably not damn soon enough.
