I am confident that all Trump’s unhinged fire and fury about the attempted coup and the treason of the FBI officials for trying to overthrow him will, if honestly and thoroughly investigated, end up proving that:
- They had ample reason to open the investigation.
- They had every reason to be alarmed over the evidence that pointed to colusion with Russia.
- They legally dotted every i and crossed every t every step of the way.
- When it came to talk of the 25th Amendment they also had inside information that he might be mentally unstable.
The crucial questions are whether or not this will be an honest unbiased investigation of whether the fix is already in, and whether it will be completed before the election.
Unless he is totally absolutely delusional and in clinically in a state of amnesiac denial Trump knows what did, condoned, or encouraged that had he been anyone else but the president he would have been indicted by Mueller.
My sense is that Trump has a plan, or more likely Barr, Stephen Miller or some else has a plan, which may be effective since I don’t give Trump any credit for strategic planning.
It is simple.
Drag the investigation out until after the election all the while having Trump and his right-wing sycophants in the media and Congress rant and rave about how the Democrats are trying to distract from their attempted coup with investigations leading to impeachment inquiries, a formal actual inquiry, or impeachment itself.
During this period the Barr investigation will selectively leak like a sieve only information that suggests they are hot on the trail of the treasonous conspirators.
Trump to the extent he can understand this, and certainly his evil inner circle, knows that once Trump is elected they are in the clear. They can issue a report saying they weren’t able to find anything that the FBI did that warranted bringing criminal charges while implying that the FBI still might have done things that they were devious enough to get away with.

It’s been pointed out that Barr has appointed John Durham to head the investigation. However, Barr hasn’t recused himself, he hasn’t vowed not to interfere with Durham’s investigation, but that isn’t my major point. Barr couldn’t select an obvious political hack, he had do find someone who at least appeared to be highly qualified and non-partisan. Barr has to know there is no “there” there in Trump’s paranoid charges, so it doesn’t matter that Durham makes the same conclusion. Barr, who has tried to protect Trump at every turn, knows that he has the ultimate control in how to drag out the investigation until after the election.
