I’m watching MSNBC broadcasting live from London with Hallie Jackson. They are showing the staged festivities in full screen. I think they should be in a small box on the lower right where the pomp and circumstance belongs.
They chose Christopher Dickey to act as one of their their commentators: He actually opined about how dignified the president and First Lady looked as if this mattered. Give an award to the costume designer!
I am sickened by this coverage.
I am disappointed by the MSNBC decision to treat this like anything but what it really is: a political exercise by Trump to make himself actually look like he is a world leader.
Keir Simmons, another commentator with a British accent comments sounded like he was covering the red carpet at the Oscars.
Jon Sopel from BCC tried to add some seriousness to his comments, but I have to say that his breathless delivery belied the fact that he was taking about a grave problem in international relations.
Some other British commentator just said “Prime Charles loves tea.”
The coverage is still on. I’ve yet to with to my binge watching if Seinfeld (80 episode to go).
Think that MSNBC diverging from from their usual political approach to covering Trump with a panel who could talk seriously about the politics of this visit without the color commentary.
It seems to me that a major part of the story is Trump’s morning tweets insulting the Muslim mayor of London comparing him to NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio. (HUFFPOST story)
I also may have missed it but I head no mention of the fact that Mr. Trump arrived at Buckingham Palace after a three-mile helicopter flight from the American ambassador’s residence to meet with Queen Elizabeth II while Barack Obama used a motorcade for the same trip in May 2011, driving past cheering crowds on London streets. “White House officials did not say why they had opted for a helicopter, though they have been very sensitive to reports of large protests planned for the streets of central London.” ( from the NY Times)
What do you think?

MORE Trump tweets from this morning:
- London part of trip is going really well. The Queen and the entire Royal family have been fantastic. The relationship with the United Kingdom is very strong. Tremendous crowds of well wishers and people that love our Country. Haven’t seen any protests yet, but I’m sure the….....Fake News will be working hard to find them. Great love all around. Also, big Trade Deal is possible once U.K. gets rid of the shackles. Already starting to talk!
- I believe that if people stoped using or subscribing to @ATT, they would be forced to make big changes at @CNN, which is dying in the ratings anyway. It is so unfair with such bad, Fake News! Why wouldn’t they act. When the World watches @CNN, it gets a false picture of USA. Sad!
- Just arrived in the United Kingdom. The only problem is that @CNN is the primary source of news available from the U.S. After watching it for a short while, I turned it off. All negative & so much Fake News, very bad for U.S. Big ratings drop. Why doesn’t owner @ATT do something?
Below on the poll: Sorry I spelled stunk incorrectly.
