Sen. Cory Booker and Vice President Joe Biden just went toe-to-toe about Biden’s 1994 crime bill and immigration.
First, he called out Joe Biden’s immigration stance and the heavy deportation police of the Obama administration. After NYC Mayor Bill De Blasio asked Joe Biden what he did on immigration as Vice President and how he influenced Barack Obama in those decisions, Biden said he wouldn’t discuss his private conversations with the president.
Enter, Booker, who called out Biden for using Obama when it is convenient.
Cory Booker then went on to hit Biden right in the crime bill, which Biden made a career on in the US Senate. Listen to this exchange:
Biden tried to hit back, but the damage was done. He tried to pivot to Cory Booker’s record as the mayor of Newark, New Jersey and Booker wasn’t having it, telling Biden, “Mr. Vice President, there’s a saying in my community—You’re dipping into the Kool-Aid and you don’t even know the flavor.” Needless to say, it drew big applause.
Joe didn’t seem ready.
