The Wall Street Journal said “It is widely regarded as the worst photo op in the history of presidential campaigning: The 1988 video of Gov. Michael Dukakis, sporting an oversize helmet and an entirely misplaced grin while riding in a tank.”
Amy McGrath, who legitimately is being photographed inside or with a fighter jet (on her website and in her ads) actually was in the military:
Amy graduated from the US Naval Academy and overcame the odds to become the first woman in the Marine Corps to fly a combat mission in an F/A-18 fighter jet. She served 20 years in the Marines where she flew 89 combat missions in Iraq and Afghanistan, targeting al-Qaida and the Taliban, before retiring and moving back home to Kentucky to raise her family.
If you’ve been following the news, at least on MSNBC, you know she is fighting, not the Taliban or AlQuada what now looks like a long shot race to defeat Mitch McConnell, senator from Kentucky.
She has one of the most compelling TV ads I’ve ever seen.
Here’s another which is a far cry from the images of Michael Dukakis in tank.
It’s too bad Trump didn't decide to do a photo op in one of his July 4th tanks, though his base would have thought Bone Spurs looked cool.
Lt. Col. McGrath has the right stuff. She was “the first woman in the Marine Corps to fly a combat mission in an F/A-18 fighter jet. She served 20 years in the Marines where she flew 89 combat missions in Iraq and Afghanistan, targeting al-Qaida and the Taliban.” (her website)
She flew these in combat:
Is this enough to defeat Senator McConnell? At the least she will give him, literally, a run for his money. It will probably mean he has to spend more time on the campaign trail.
What do you think?
