… Essential for avoiding what would otherwise be “a sham Trial” … on This Week this morning:
Here’s my transcription of that clip:
[...]
GS: That was the Clinton model though.
CS: The Clinton model was totally different, for 2 reasons.
One, they had all been heard from already. Everyone of those witnesses had been heard from before.
These are 4 witnesses, who are eye-witness to the main charge against the president: That he withheld the aid for political benefit to himself.
GS: Mick Mulvaney, Secretary Pompeo, John Bolton …
CS: It’s not Secretary Pompeo. It’s [Robert] Blair and it’s [Michael] Duffey. Look what’s happened in the last 2 weeks. Look what’s come out:
Duffey has said we have to hush up why he — this is in the the emails —
GS: Oh yeah.
CS: — we have to hush up why the president {inaubile: cannot}. And then he said this directly came from the the president. Shouldn’t that man testify?
64% of Republicans agree. So I am hopeful our Republican colleagues will come forward.
And I’ll add one thing. If they vote for witnesses — if 4 of them join us — to get witnesses and documents, it doesn’t mean they are going to vote to convict the president.
It means we’ll hear all the evidence. It may as I said be exculpatory. It may be further condemning the president. And then the chips will fall where they may.
I’ll tell you this: If the president is acquitted through a sham Trial, through a mock Trial — where there are no witnesses, where everything is covered up. That will not be — that will not stand him well with the American people. And it will not stand the Republicans [well] with the American people.
Bravo Senator Schumer. Thank you for making the case for WHY we need to hear from more witnesses and WHY we need to see the public documents involved in this Trump Ukraine scheme.
I wish more Democrats stay on topic, and continue speak out like this … and not go chasing the latest “shiny object” that the unstable toddler has deployed.

There’s more here, on Michael Duffey, associate director of national security programs at the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), and the recently “released” emails where he directly blames Trump for the withholding of Ukraine military aid:
There’s more here, on Mick Mulvaney, acting chief of staff, who has admitted on TV, among other things:
MM: I was involved with the process by which the money was held up temporarily.
That and many other Team-Trump admissions from 2019, have been outlined and consolidated here, for your “big picture” viewing:

PS: I think this was the poll that Schumer was citing today. These numbers ARE significant.
A poll released Tuesday by ABC News and The Washington Post found that about 7 in 10 Americans think the administration officials should be able to testify. In an example of bipartisan agreement, 79% of Democrats, 64% of Republicans and 72% of independents agree that Trump should allow them to appear in a Senate trial in the likely event that the House votes to impeach him.

Stay focused Dems.
Just because Trump can launch bombs — doesn’t make him innocent of the charges against him.
If anything these questionable acts of war, underscore his real-time desperation. And make him more culpable and more unfit for office — not less.
