I just wanted to put up a quick diary to let people know about this opportunity.
COVID-19 has radically changed the way we all live our lives, but one thing it hasn’t changed is the needs of our most vulnerable. Thousands are living with HIV/AIDS in Central Texas, and they need our support now more than ever.
That’s why I’m participating in the Hill Country Ride for AIDS’ Virtual Ride. It is a critical fundraiser for 9 local beneficiaries who are facing both existing and new challenges to providing life-saving services. If you can, please donate .
Your donation will become masks, medications, a friendly face in isolation, and so much more.
Your donation will help pay for a van so Project Transitions can keep taking their clients to medical appointments while observing social distancing. It will allow Waterloo Counseling Center to keep patients who have lost their jobs or been furloughed in care. It will pay for medication co-pays for Friends of David Powell Clinics patients who are no longer able to pay. Every one of the nine beneficiaries is facing new and existing needs, and they need your help to meet them.
If you can, please donate. If you can’t, please help us spread the word with #HCRA2020.
Thank you!
Please help me reach my goal of helping all of these good organizations by donating to me at my Hill Country Ride page. If you aren’t able to donate, please share this message on your social media with #HCRA2020, and help us fundraise by asking your friends & families to contribute!
And yo know I can’t not include a U2 song. I’m using this for 2 reasons. First, in the intro, where Bono says “be safe, be brave” — I think we all need to hear that right now. And also, from the 2nd verse:
Write a world where we can belong
to each other and sing it like no other
