Yesterday in a 4-3 decision, the Republican Justices who dominate the Wisconsin Supreme Court decided that punishing a Democratic governor who, like all Democrats, they deem illegitimate, was more important than the preserving the lives and health of Wisconsin’s citizens.
The Court, which during oral argument compared Governor Tony Evers’ “stay-at home” orders keeping non-essential businesses shuttered to the infamous U.S. policy during WW II of interning Japanese-American citizens in concentration camps (because they really are the same thing!), gave carte blanche for the state’s restaurants and bars to open, despite the ongoing COVID19 pandemic.
And people came. Bars filled up last night with patrons scoffing about any threat to their lives or health, while swigging beer, trading shots, guffawing and high-fiving each other. None of these people used a mask, nor, to visible extent, did they practice any sort of distancing at all. Nope, it’s party time in Wisconsin!
The scene at this bar was typical :
Here was the scene at Limanski’s pub. Note the interview of the “full-time nurse” with a toddler at home, celebrating the fact that she could now relieve some “stress.” Hey, I’m sure her patients and co-workers at the hospital will understand!
After the bars closed, hundreds of these Wisconsinites now newly infected with the COVID190 virus happily staggered home, infecting their spouse, children, parents and grandparents.
Many of them, of course, won’t live to see August.
But boy did they own the libs!
