Trump pitches fit over something Michigan's female secretary of state isn't actually doing

Donald Trump desperately needs to keep Michigan in his column in November in order to win reelection, but his charm offensive has truly been a piece of work. On top of attacking Michigan's popular governor, Gretchen Whitmer, for trying to save lives, Trump got all worked up Wednesday morning over the state mailing out absentee ballots.

Only the state isn't doing any such thing.

UPDATE: Trump deleted his original tweet, which had two bogus claims in it. Then he sent out a second tweet that fixed one bogus claim but reiterated the second. To be clear, Michigan has done nothing “illegal,” according to actual law. Per usual, Trump’s addled brain is playing make believe on the twitter.

In actuality, Michigan is sending out absentee ballot applications to its 7.7 million registered voters. But that little detail somehow managed to escape Trump's keen sense of observation.

"Breaking:" Trump wrote in a morning tweet. (Whenever Trump leads with "breaking," ya know a whole heap of stupid is on its way.) "Michigan sends absentee ballots to 7.7 million people ahead of Primaries and the General Election," he continued. "This was done illegally and without authorization by a rogue Secretary of State. I will ask to hold up funding to Michigan if they want to go down this Voter Fraud path!."

Congrats, Trump. You're a solid candidate for dumbest person on earth, and you are truly leveraging your platform in unimaginable ways.

It just so happens that the very thing the Democratic secretary of state is doing was approved as a constitutional amendment by 67% of Michigan voters in 2018. So Trump's basically crapping on 67% of the battleground state’s voters who turned out to vote in the last election cycle. Genius.

But hey, Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson isn't only a Democrat—she's a woman! So ya know she's got to be bad bad bad news.
