So much for the military deployment and takeover of these hear Yerknighted Steaks by the syphilitic Cheetoh:
Daily Beast:
Pentagon officials say it was the White House, not the Defense Department, pushing for military might in the streets—with Trump seeking details on “tanks” that could be used.
The Pentagon has officially pointed its finger at Trump before the Principal’s Office and said ‘He did it’.
Less than 24 hours after President Trump said he was prepared to send troops into cities across America, senior officials in the Pentagon began to try to distance themselves from those words and from the idea itself, underscoring that not one governor had requested additional military assistance from Defense Secretary Mark Esper.
Take note of that highlighted sentence because:
1. It shows that no one, not even Repub Governors were gonna touch Trump’s ‘offer’ of federal troops with a 10 foot pole. Think about that.
2. For all the fears of some military dictatorship, it’s a reminder that he doesn’t have the power to do it. Yes, he can scramble and pull a violent but makeshift photo op situation because of the federal lands by the White House, but he cannot unilaterally just send troops wherever. It’s not crossing our fingers and throwing salt behind our shoulders that’s keeping him from tinpot dictatorship, it’s the Constitution.
But three senior Pentagon officials who spoke with The Daily Beast said they viewed the secretary’s comments on the call as a way to publicly show support for the president. They did not expect the department to actually implement a plan that would reflect the president’s rhetoric and force additional troops upon the states. (More than 20,000 national guard troops already have been deployed to assist local law enforcement during protests.)
Dictatorship 101: You need to have the military completely on your side.
Now the blowback is so enormous from his little stunt (that’s one euphemism for it), the military is already washing their hands of any responsibility.
One of the sources, a senior administration official, insisted that the president wasn’t ordering tanks to roll down the streets, but was inquiring about “the kind of hardware” that could be used in military shows of force, and at one point Trump threw out the word “tanks.”
“I think that is just one of the military words he knows,” this official said.
Dictatorship 102: Don’t have the Military and people in your administration on record calling you an idiot.
I don’t know about you, but I’m too over this shitshow to be scared. He’s a frontal-lobed compromised man-child. Dangerous to be sure, but he couldn’t dictate a post-it note.
Vote peoples. Vote.
UPDATE:
Heckuva Job Orange Shitgibbon!
UPDATE 2:
Trump is hemhorrhaging support in a primary he should be winning handily. In INDIANA.
Dictatorship 103: Your party has to actually like you in large enough numbers to take over the country.
UPDATE 3:
Dictatorship 104: It’s easier to take over a country if your sycophants don’t have to worry about job security.
UPDATE 4: Okay this is just sad. Whaaambulance to 1600 Pennsylvania Please...
Dictatorship 105: Dictators don’t… well you get the picture.
Final UPDATE:
When it’s all said and done, I consider Trump’s actions the past few days to be his ALAMO. This was the moment for him to do what real dictators do — and he failed. Now the Military is openly speaking against him while instead of sending troops out, he is taking troops IN. Surrounding himself.
That never ends well for despots.
Hope this diary gave you all some good morale boosting. We WILL persevere! Goddess Bless America ; )
Edit: The Pootie got this to the Rec List didn’t it. I exploited the kitty. No regrets.
