I just saw in my local newspaper that the Federal police/storm-troopers will be sent to Milwaukee at a time that just happens to coincide with the Democratic National Convention. I’ve seen articles before this about his thugs being sent to other places soon, including Chicago and Albuquerque, but nothing in national publications about Milwaukee. Our Democratic Governor, Tony Evers, has raised objections, and the article, originally from the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, says:
...state and local officials are wary of what they see as a political move by the Trump administration and outright alarmed by what they've seen federal agents do in other cities, including Portland.
Like Chicago, Milwaukee has had a rising rate of gun deaths, including numerous shootings of children, so no doubt Trump and Barr are looking at that as well as the Convention. We don’t have information on how many officers he plans to send, and the number for Chicago appears ever-changing per Administration sources.
Milwaukee PD is not pleased; The Journal-Sentinel reports:
"The Milwaukee Police Department is aware of the deployment of federal agents to other cities for the purpose of providing support to those local law enforcement agencies as they address their civil unrest," the statement read. "The Milwaukee Police Department respectfully declines the deployment of federal agents in Milwaukee for this purpose."
Naturally, this is being coordinated as per usual with authorities on the ground at the state level (i.e., not at all):
Evers and Milwaukee officials have said they were not consulted about the plan and did not know of it until Meadows' interview with Maria Bartiromo on the Fox News program "Sunday Morning Futures."
Refer to the link for the article, which includes comments of various lawmakers and officials in Wisconsin. I noticed even one Republican labeled it an overreach to come here without an express request from the State. I’m about 90 minutes north of Milwaukee, and wondering what we can expect and what the best course of action will be. I’ll be watching some of the groups I’ve protested with in the past to see what’s planned. Of course, the Convention itself is very scaled-back and mostly virtual, and in this case, that’s probably a good thing.
