The Grand Old Party (GOP) is still old but no longer grand. It no longer represents true conservatives or their views. It is now the Party of Trump/Trumpism. The party is dominated by racist, white supremacists, anarchist and self-centered egotist who only represent their own aggrandizement. The “great” the GOP seeks is a return to McCarthyism and quite possibly a Confederacy. If one takes a look at the actions of GOP office holders who make great fanfare of attacking and name calling opposing politicians and states all so they can “own the libs”, dividing the nation into us and them shrinking federal power so it can be concentrated more power in themselves, they make no effort to improve the nation or the circumstances for its citizenry. One classic example seen on the internet of this is the two physical specimens' wearing the t-shirt that say, “I’d Rather be a Russian than a Democrat”. So, they would rather be a dictatorial Communist than a free American with a different view? The GOP is seeking to make this nation a confederation of states (a Confederacy, in fact one of their principal candidates in Pennsylvania has a photo of wearing the uniform of the Confederacy) where they find it easier to continue to hold power rather than a United States that has been able to do truly great things such as winning two world wars; sending men to the moon and having them return; electrifying the nation; creating a national highway system; and creating a financial system that is the envy of the world. True conservatives, not those who are Making A Goofy Ass of themselves, need to create a new party that holds true to their values and ethics and that has a platform that their members are held to. Maybe this is the message that needs to be passed on to our true conservative American brethren and sisters. Maybe we can get back to electing people who have a true interest in improving the lives of Americans regardless of their income status.
At one time the GOP boasted that they were the party of law and order and of national defense, now they are the POT known for Qanon rhetoric and nonsense, the party that has championed the January 6 seditionist who rioted and attacked the capital building, and attacked the capitol police on that date, recently MAGA members attacked the offices of the FBI in reaction to the legal search of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate while ignoring the theft of highly classified documents for an unknown and undisclosed motivation that leaves the nation’s security in a state of uncertainty. The GOP/POT sole Constitutional focus is the Second Amendment, but if you were to project its effects it is actually the antithesis of law and order and the largest threat to peace and democracy. The Second Amendment places law enforcement and punishment into the hands of individuals and outside the control of police and the courts similar to the actions Texas took on abortions. This is in keeping with GOP/POT aims to reduce the size of government you no longer need courts or law enforcement when you can shoot them and say you were standing your ground, or they were protesting, and you ran them down with a car. The NRA zealots have used the controversy to bolster the arms industry enabling it to drive local arms races (Hey! Bud down the street just bought a grenade launcher, so now I gotta get one...) all to provide baby killers with the maximum firepower to wipe out entire school, shopping and concert going populations.
The GOP/POT has been aiming to politicizing the courts since before Trump entered the fray of politics. Mitch McConnell had long been the barrier to confirmations of qualified Justices to the Supreme Court and pushing for radical rightwing nominees which has brought us to the current make-up of the most unpopular and untrusted in the SCOTUS history. Trump made proclamations in interviews while running for office that women needed to be prosecuted for abortions. Now there are pronouncements that the right to privacy is on the court's sights as a means to tumble marriage equality. As a reaction to the SCOTUS decisions there are reports that voluntary sterilizations are on the rise. This adds to the declining birth rates in the US brings us to another concern, people to work in industries, people to enter the armed forces to protect the Nation. With a lack of people where do you get more? Immigration, one of the most hated issues for the GOP/POT. Imagine they may even have to give citizenship to immigrants to entice people to protect our borders in the future! The other issue that hasn’t been on the radar lately is the “safe haven drop your baby off here” laws and locations, but just the other day there was a news story of someone finding a child in their tool shed, so how will the pro-life contingent react when these anti-abortion laws increase more throw away babies, especially when some of these new laws allow the rapist to sue for paternity and maybe even child support. The reason the founding fathers instituted the separation of church and state was so that everyone and anyone could worship in the manner they felt was appropriate for them. The recent decisions of the SCOTUS are due to insertion of their religious views. The other point is that theocracies don’t work, the biggest example is Iran. The argument will rise that Muslim is not Christianity; but consider how many different sects and cults of Christianity are there and then include the fight for domination among them, all to supposedly save your soul. Then sooner or later capitalism will bump up against religious regulation and the nation will be in a constant state of revolt.
It does seem that those who enter the political fray on behalf of the conservative party end up profiting from it. The majority of the GOP are now millionaires, while those who are under their rule continue to sink into greater levels of poverty. With the cost of political campaigns reaching into the millions of dollars there is the ever-increasing danger of corruption. Is there any doubt that the GOP fears an increase in the efficiency and effectiveness of the IRS, and those who secretly contribute to the GOP to buy political power is transmitting that fear that such action come out to the light of day? Can the GOP/POT get back to representation that will put the needs of the many Americans above their own? Those top elected GOP representatives: Ted Cruz, Lindsey Graham, Willie Ghomert, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Matt Gaetz, Rand Paul, Kevin McCarthy are just a few that have a demonstrated motivation of their own self-interest while ignoring the critical needs of their constituents. When can we get back to electing representatives that actually represent the interest of the constituents instead of their own.
I was recently watching the news reporting on one of the conservative conventions talking about book banning and education and putting the words Communism and Marxism before everything they were attacking. None of this made sense, it was just name calling. The real fear has to be how the radical right is bucking for positions on local school boards for political power. Education boards should be filled with people qualified in educating our youth and preparing them for the future to fill positions in our government, industries, and the work force.
