Democratic incumbent Michelle Lujan Grisham has been rehired by her constituents in New Mexico, defeating Republican Mark Ronchetti.
Grisham made history as the nation’s first [Democratic] Latina governor when she was elected in 2018 after having served three terms in the U.S. House and prior to that as head of New Mexico's State Department of Health from 2004 to 2007 under Gov. Bill Richardson.
Ronchetti is a certified meteorologist and worked as the chief meteorologist for Albuquerque’s CBS and FOX affiliates. He ran for the open U.S. Senate seat in 2020, and was defeated by Sen. Ben Ray Luján. Ronchetti is a forced birther who campaigned on the “moderate” position that people shouldn’t actually die rather than have an abortion, though his actual position is allegedly far more extreme.
