After calling Democrats “evil b*stards” and threatening to burn down Maricopa County’s “house of cards” to the ground, failed Arizona Republican gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake is claiming victory after a judge yesterday threw out eight of ten counts in her lawsuit to overturn Democrat Katie Hobbs’ roughly 17,000-vote victory.
Lake’s tweet last night claims that Maricopa County’s call to dismiss all ten counts “FAILED” and that America should “Buckle up.”
Not so fast there, loser. Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Peter Thompson ruled that Lake’s team must prove malpractice by election officials and show that enough Republican votes were lost because of the wrongdoing.
The two-day hearing, to be held before Katie Hobbs’ Jan. 2 inauguration, will focus on two of Lake’s allegations, neither of which claims election “fraud” but instead intentional malfeasance by election officials:
1) CLAIM: Maricopa County election officials purposefully created the printer error that caused voters in approximately one-third of the county’s locations to wait until the problem was fixed (30 to 90 minutes in most places). According to officials, no one was denied their right to vote, either by waiting or going to another location (of the 220 aggrieved voters listed in Lake’s lawsuit, 217 of them voted). In addition to proving intentional malice, Lake’s attorneys must show that the printer problem resulted in enough “identifiable lost votes” to change the outcome. As Maricopa County attorneys argued, if this was a countywide conspiracy, isn’t it odd that not a single email, tweet, letter, or other correspondence exists outlining the plot?
2) CLAIM: Employees of the Maricopa County’s election service contractor intentionally and illegally added ballots to the count and failed to maintain an appropriate chain of custody. Again, Lake’s team must prove that Runbeck Election Services purposefully added ballots (Lake’s lawsuit says they were family members), and that these illegal ballots affected the outcome.
Judge Thompson threw out most of Lake’s audacious claims dealing with tens or even hundreds of thousands of mystery votes. Concerning the two remaining counts, the Judge said he has no evidence that either allegation is true, but he will give Lake’s attorneys the opportunity to put up or shut up.
“Accordingly, Plaintiff must show at trial that the … printer malfunctions were intentional, and directed to affect the results of the election, and that such actions did actually affect the outcome.”
my bolds
Like trump, Kari Lake refused to concede after Katie Hobbs won the race on Nov. 8, and Lake’s been saying a lot of dumb shit ever since about her loss, blaming everybody and everything except her own stupid campaign—pissing all over the McCain family in Arizona, and clinging to trump’s “stolen election” nonsense that Arizona voters soundly rejected from the Governor’s race on down.
Also like trump, most of her allegations have been tossed out of court, and the remaining two will be dismissed as well. Again like trump (have I said that enough?), she won’t concede even after all her court challenges have been tossed and every other possible avenue to reach the Governor’s office has been blocked, but she’ll keep asking for money to fight the deep state—or, as she calls them, “evil b*stards.”
Classy.
