When it comes to voter misinformation, Republicans seem to have reached an entirely new level of absurdism, asking whether or not Twitter will enforce rules in providing people actual information about voting rights. Yes, you heard that right. Apparently for Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, providing accurate information about your right to vote might also deserve to be taken down.
Twitter announces they will take down information designed to stop people from voting and participating as well as content aimed at intimidation and designed to undermine faith in the electoral process. It does not say anything about political parties or their purpose; generalized content designed to stop people from voting or intimidating people from voting will have actions taken against those posts. They will most likely be removed or the accounts associated with them will be suspended.
Nothing says you support the right of the American public to vote like your outrage at a company’s announcement attempting to discourage people from voting or to stop people from participating, that you think this is wrong, and that there should be “another side.”
I’m eager for the other side in support of disinformation, Ted.
