What he's saying: "These are dark times for our nation, as my beautiful home ... is currently under siege, raided, and occupied by a large group of FBI agents," the former president wrote in a release Monday.
- "After working and cooperating with the relevant Government agencies, this unannounced raid on my home was not necessary or appropriate," Trump said. "It is prosecutorial misconduct, the weaponization of the Justice System, and an attack by Radical Left Democrats who desperately don’t want me to run for President in 2024."

The context: The Justice Department has been working on multiple investigations involving Trump.
- Federal prosecutors reportedly began a grand jury investigation in May into the alleged mishandling of classified documents that wound up at Mar-a-Lago.
- The DOJ probe of Jan. 6, in which they’ve charged and prosecuted hundreds of Capitol rioters, has also expanded in recent months to include schemes to overturn the 2020 presidential election in the run-up to the attack.
