This week’s VP Kamala Harris roundup starts with events in Las Vegas, Nevada (Sat. Jan. 27), the first day of early voting in the Nevada Democratic Party primaries.
VP Harris’ first stop was a meeting with students at the Chef Jeff Project to announce a new Small Business Administration (SBA) rule that will make Americans with a criminal record, who have served their time, eligible for SBA loan programs that help individuals start and run small businesses.
VP Harris: I do believe in a very fundamental principle — and it transcends religions, but it is an age-old concept — and it is the concept of redemption, which is the notion and understanding that all people will make a mistake. And, yes, there must be accountability … But is it not the sign of a civil society to allow people the ability to come back and earn their way back?
VP Harris’ second stop was a Democratic Party, Get Out the Vote Event:
VP Kamala Harris: Who sits in the White House matters. In 2024, Nevada, freedom is on the ballot and our democracy is on the ballot. Let us understand the urgency of this moment. Let us understand that this is the moment for us to be strong, and stand, for the kind of country we want to live in.
VP Harris’ full remarks start at 20:40.
While in Nevada, Carolina Peguero of Univision, followed VP Harris throughout her day, and conducted an interview about issues important to the Hispanic community:
Monday, Jan. 30, VP Harris made the second stop of her Fight for Reproductive Freedoms Tour, at the Mexican Heritage Plaza in San Jose, California. This time, it was a moderated conversation with Sophia Bush.
VP Kamala Harris: And so, we need, this November, to elect a majority of people in the United States Congress who simply agree it’s not the government’s right to tell a woman what’s in her best interest when she knows what’s in her own best interest and doesn’t need some person walking around with a flag pin to tell her what to do. (Applause.)
Speaking to Californians: Let’s not get too comfortable, with that, because if these folks have their way — and they’ve already articulated — it’s part of their agenda — they’ll get a national ban. So, let’s understand, none of us can afford to sit back and say, “Thank God we’re in California.”
VP Kamala Harris’ interview starts at 13:40.
This week’s coverage ends with VP Kamala Harris headlining a GOTV event at South Carolina’s largest HBCU, South Carolina State University, in Orangeburg County, S.C.
VP Kamala Harris’ full remarks start at 25:00 minutes.
Good interview with Rhyan J. Henson of Gray Television:
The media may be catching on to how important VP Kamala Harris is to the Biden-Harris administration and to the re-election campaign. Here’s hoping this is a trend:
And here’s another, more mixed article from the author’s viewpoint, while the voters are positive: "She's part of the plan": Kamala Haris makes critical pitch as South Carolina primary kicks off.
