First off, this is not really an “article”. It’s more an open thread specifically for those who follow the Ukraine volunteer Transcripts.
After Russia started the full scale invasion in Feb of 22 a number of foreigners, including US citizens, volunteered to go fight in Ukraine. A few decided to blog about it. And a few of those bloggers were exposed as hoaxes. As a 78 year-old (I guess 76 at the time) Viet Nam vet the “Ukraine Volunteer” (UV for short) was doubted by many. His bonafides are still unestablished and I don’t wish to discuss them in this space today, but I did want to acknowledge it up front.
IF the Ukraine Volunteer is a real person then he is now possibly KIA, MIA, POW or seriously wounded so I’d like to make further discussion of his bonafides off limit in this particular article. If he starts posting again and there is interest I’d be happy to discuss his reality then. This article is for those of us who have been following UV’s posts to just chat.
I believe UV’s previous maximum length of time between check-ins was roughly 3 weeks. It’s now been almost 7 weeks since his last check-in. My search for news on US volunteers being KIA since 4/7 didn’t turn up anything useful. Hopefully he’s just still in the field and relatively okay.
Here’s the last transcript from him on April 7th. This is the editors May 7th update. They were getting ready for a helicopter ride. I believe up to that time he had been running recon in the Kreminna area though please correct me if that changed and I missed it. I know there had been talk about them going down to Adiivka but that was probably just scuttlebutt.
I’ve rarely posted regarding him (just a few times) due to the inability to establish bonafides, but with him not having checked in I was just thinking about him, wishing him the best, and thought others may want to have a place to chat about him.
