Are we going to let them turn America into the “Land of the Me’s and the Home of the Afraid”?
Newsweek
Steve Bannon said Donald Trump's critics should "fear" an incoming Trump presidency if he is elected in November.
Speaking on his War Room podcast, the former Trump aide responded to a discussion on MSNBC between host Mika Brzezinski, John Prideaux, U.S. editor at The Economist, and various other panellists. The group were discussing previous remarks by the former president about "being a dictator on day one" and whether the American state is "dictator-proof."
Responding to the discussion, Bannon said: "We mock your fear, we want you to fear. There's going to be accountability [when Trump becomes president]. We are taking apart the administrative state. We're going to destroy the deep state and we're going to hold everybody responsible that put this republic in the situation it's in today."
I don’t think so scumbag…
Fear, more than any other emotion, drives the behavior of life on this planet...
A majority of Americans believe this nation is moving in the wrong direction. Some believe MAGA extremism is going to steamroll our democracy, and some believe it will be liberals, minorities, and immigrants to blame. America is caught up in a vicious cycle of fear and hate. It’s a feedback loop which fuels and then subsequently consumes the base emotions of human beings. Trump knows just what he’s doing when he threatens everyone with the consequences of his supporters’ ire because quite frankly terrorism works.
“I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.” — Nelson Mandela
Liberals fear Trump and his supporters are going to derail American democracy, kill their fellow Americans, and put people in camps… Conservatives fear Black people, LGBTQ+ people, immigrants, gun regulation, Taylor Swift, and losing majority status and privileges… Americans on both sides of the aisle are letting their fears get away with them.
I don’t share any of these fears. I know that no matter what happens the world will continue to turn. I know that despite the divisiveness in this country my neighbors are not my enemy.
The United States is the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave, and this is our moment in history to prove it.
“The secret to happiness is freedom…and the secret to freedom is courage.” — Thucydides
