I heard that Trump’s former primary opponent Nikki Hailey recently announced that she plans to vote for Trump, expressing that she considers him the best choice although he’s “not perfect”.
I find that statement reminiscent of the closing scene of the classic 1959 movie “Some Like It Hot”. Joe E. Brown’s fianceé confesses to him that “she” is not a woman, but a man in drag. Joe E. Brown calmly responds: “Nobody’s perfect.”
Due to space limitations, the captioned photo only includes a small portion of Trump’s crimes. The disgraced former President also dismantled the Pandemic Response Team two years before the covid pandemic hit, and he mismanaged the pandemic in several ways which have been well-documented elsewhere. He also has been found guilty of sexual assault, and is in solidarity with hate groups such as the so-called “Proud Boys” and the “Oath Keepers”. He also has recently proclaimed that if he gets another term he would disregard the Constitution and be a dictator on Day One. (If he gets enough sycophants in his cabinet this time around, he could conceivably succeed.)
Despite all of the Donald’s baggage, he nevertheless has a chance of actually winning the next election. Remember: Trump does not have to win the majority of votes to win. The electoral college could conceivably help him squeak by. And who knows how many “swing voters” this November might go with Trump because they’re disappointed that Joe Biden failed to single-handedly solve every problem in America.
In other words, they may overlook Trump’s unprecedented corruption and malevolence because “nobody’s perfect”.
