I am a big Martin Scorsese fan and the one movie of his I can watch over and over and over again is his 1995 movie, Casino, starring Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci, Sharon Stone and slew of comedic legends such Don Rickles, Allan King, Kevin Pollack and of course, Dick Smothers playing a subtle but dead on doppelgänger of the late, great U.S. Senate Majority Leader, and one of my personal political heroes, Harry Reid (D. NV). Hence, why I chose an image of De Niro as Sam “Ace” Rothstein as the image. I also recently rewatched the movie before I went to Vegas last weekend. I can go on forever about how much I think Casino is arguably not just in my top 5 Scorsese movies but also one of the greatest gangster movies of all time. I even think it’s better than Goodfellas but that’s a whole different conversation. Any way, the reason I bring this up is because the Biden campaign had brought in De Niro, who we all know is staunchly anti-Trump, on his new campaign ad and you should check it out:
It opens with Mr. De Niro’s distinctive voice playing over images of Mr. Trump during the coronavirus pandemic and the Black Lives Matter protests in 2020.
“From midnight tweets, to drinking bleach, to tear-gassing citizens and staging a photo op, we knew Trump was out of control when he was president,” Mr. De Niro says. “Then he lost the 2020 election — and snapped.” (The bleach reference was a nod to Mr. Trump’s suggestion that an “injection inside” the body with a disinfectant could help treat the coronavirus.)
The actor accuses Mr. Trump of “desperately trying to hold onto power,” threatening to rule as a “dictator” if he wins the 2024 election and wanting to “terminate the Constitution.”
Then the ad shows a video of Mr. Trump speaking at a campaign rally.
“If I don’t get elected, it’s going to be a blood bath,” the former president says.
