Well, it's official: there's no First Amendment in Iraq either. Monday's
New York Times reports that American soldiers shut down a Baghdad newspaper under orders from Paul Bremer.
The newspaper was insufficiently pro-American and printed "rumors." (Sounds like Fox News, doesn't it?)
According to U.S. Iraqi occupation "law," media outlets must be licensed and must not incite violence nor civil disorder. While Al Hawza didn't like Americans (and said so), there's apparently no evidence the paper advocated violence, according to the report.
