Just to add to the two threads below that posted Dean's MI speech from someone who attended.
First, the good news. The event was packed. It was held in an auditorium at Michigan State. I don't know how big that was, because I never got in--it was packed 15 minutes before the designated start time. They had one or two overflow rooms (I saw one); in mine, there were at least 200 people, likely closer to 300.
One problem was that some TV station had told the campaign they were covering the speech live--but then didn't. Which mean they had no TV feed to bring into the overflow rooms. I was one of the people who left (probably about 20 did) when I found that out. Dean was supposed to go to the overflow rooms after he was done to talk to people who were there, but this would have entailed waiting for 1:15 after the designated start time for the event (on top of, for me, a 1:15 drive each way).
Turns out I got to listen to the speech from outside the auditorium. It was alright. It looks firey on the DFA blog. But it sounded a little disjointed to me. But then, that might have been because I was listening from outside.
Anyway, the crowds outside even were enthusiastic. There were some people asking why he wasn't addressing what his campaign was going to do from here.
The crowd inside sounded very very enthusiastic.
