A man who allegedly ejected 3 Denver residents from a taxpayer-funded Social Security event because of their "no blood for oil" bumper sticker is now claiming qualified immunity in his legal proceeding, meaning that he was acting in an official goverment capacity.
Up until this point, the accused "bouncer" has claimed that he was only a volunteer at this event.
(From DenverChannel.com 1/10/06) - A man being sued for his alleged role in removing two people from a March appearance by President George W. Bush said that he will ask for qualified immunity, a legal protection reserved for government officials acting in their official capacity. Michael Casper is a building manager in the federal General Services Administration in Denver. He filed a motion in U.S. District Court Monday that asked a judge to delay a deposition because he planned to ask that the lawsuit be dismissed based on the legal protection.
So which is it, Mike, volunteer or official? If you're a federal government official, you are legally in jeopardy if you violate someone's Constituional rights. Who at the White House told you to do this?
