About an hour ago, Ralph Nader did an interview on Fox News. He still was uncommittal as to whether or not he'll run in 2004, but he said a few things; he's still got an exploratory committee taking input online and looking at his prospects, and he will not run as a Green in 2004, but if he runs it would be as an Independant.
Here is my response to Mr. Nader.
Ralph, I understand your opinion in 2000, they did seem like they were both trying to pretend to be each other. Both Bush and Gore wanted to give more money to the military, cut taxes, etc.
I also understand your statement that it was not just you who caused Gore's loss in 2000. Yes, he could not win his own state. He couldn't win Clinton's home state. He ran a poor candidacy, and could never decide who he was from week to week.
But you've seen 4 years of Bush as well as I have. I can't imagine you're so blind as to now see how bad things have gotten in this country in the last few years. You know full well how many lives it'll cost Bush he wins again. You've watched the deficits skyrocket as much as I have. You've watched the environment be handed away to the highest bidder. Ralph, don't do it this time. This is your best chance ever to get more support for your ideas. Don't waste it on petty rivalries.
You had to hate the Iraq war as much as I did. You know how bad this administration's policies are. Put your damn money where your mouth is. You said in the interview that you supported Kucinich, but you know full well that it's obvious he's not going to win. There are 2 other major anti-war candidates out there from the start: Clark and Dean. You know full well your support could help make sure the Democrats run a candidate who will listen to you. Take advantage of it! Put the "independent" label behind you, if just for a time, and do the right thing, just once, please Ralph! Help us in this fight! Don't undercut our message again!
