The U.S. Senate will be voting next week, probably Tuesday, on a massive energy bill. This is the monster that Dick Cheney has been working to get for FOUR years. As you recall, Cheney kept his energy meeting notes successfully hidden from public view after going to court to prevent their release. There is little doubt in my mind that these notes would have revealed embarrassing facts about the Bush Administration's ties to Big Oil. So it goes.
Now the fight for this handout to energy corporations is coming to a close. To get an idea on just how disastrous this bill is, check out Public Citizen's list of the most noxious components of this legislation:

While it's true that passage of the bill will proceed to conference committee to resolve differences with the House-passed version, passing this bill in the Senate will surely stand as a loss for progressives on the scale of the passed bankruptcy bill, or worse. This vote will be extremely close. Your senators need to hear from you. If Congress can capitulate on public television, shouldn't it also be possible for them to do so on the topic of safe, reliable, clean energy?

Adn of course a recommendation wouldn't hurt so more can send their notes.
