I was wondering when the attacks on Dean were going to start...well, here's one in today's San Francisco Chronicle, an opinion (read: "hit") piece by a Jennifer Nelson (contact info below), who happened to work as a policy-maker in the Republican administrations of Wilson and Deukmejian, in California. The piece is titled "Dean: From Insurgent to Insider":

Here's one quote from the article: "The selection of Dean as the DNC chair proves that Democratic activists are not interested in reaching out to mainstream Americans and pulling independents and moderate Republicans into their fold. In his bid for the position, Dean told fellow Democrats gathered in New York in late January, "I hate the Republicans and everything they stand for, but I admire their discipline and their organization".

I have to say, this article raises my ire, as it is basically untrue rubbish, an attack on the Democratic Party. She goes on in this article to make these claims: "Dean wants to reform the Democratic Party into one that talks about morals and values, although his supporters generally have nothing but disdain for red-state voters who attend church and oppose abortion and same-sex marriage. He plans to frame the morality question in a new light: big government programs are the "moral" answer to health care and social security. The Democrats can wrap their Big Government ideas in morality and values, but the American people will quickly see through their spin."
Read the whole article...it tries to paint Dean as a leftist, out of touch with his party, that no one in the Democratic establishment likes, that will pull the party down...and, to boot, takes some swipes at his supporters too, saying we don't like moderates or Red Staters. Say what??
So...who is this Jennifer Nelson? What is her back ground, and who is behind this story? There is a list of her recent articles on the side of the article, so it is a place to start. Worth a look, since she has chosen to step forward so strongly as a voice attacking Dean and the Democrats.
Oh, and by the way, here is her email address, in case you want to argue a different point: jlnelson1990@yahoo.com.
If you think this is worth responding to, please recommend, so more people see it later. Thanks.
