The Washington Post just released the
approval numbers for Bush for August 2005.
The survey found Bush's job approval rating at 45 percent, down seven points since January and the lowest ever recorded for the president in Post-ABC surveys. Fifty-three percent disapproved of the job Bush is doing.
Not surprising is that his highest disapproval rating (73%) is linked to rising gas prices.
Sad thing is, he has little to do with the rising gas prices. Those prices are
still cheaper than the inflation adjusted prices of 1981.
Imigration issues and the situation in Iraq have the next highest disapproval rating at 57% each, only reaffirming the common belief among us Dems that he and his administration is incompetent.
Other items I found interesting:
* 59% felt that Bush does not understand the problems of the people. A trend of increasing disappointment over the last 8 months.
* 59% disapprove of the way Congress is doing its job. You have to go back to March of 1997 to find a higher disapproval rating of Congress.
* When asked "All in all, considering the costs to the United States versus the benefits to the United States, do you think the war with Iraq was worth fighting, or not? Do you feel that way STRONGLY or SOMEWHAT?" The population answered on the majority saying it was not worth fighting (53%), with 46% saying it was/is worth fighting.
* 69% stated there were an unacceptable number of US caualties in the Iraq War.
* The population was split 49% even on whether the Iraq war has contributed to the security of America.
There are more interesting stats, but this post is getting long enough... time to open for comment!
Cheers!
